1.Limit the number of visitors

The city of Venice can take special measures to manage the flow of visitors with the application of pedestrians and/or agreed road to the provincial party for public order and safety, promptly deciding by the local police according to the actual level of pressure on the city to ensure that the safety of tourists manages the flow harmonized with the needs of residents and also for order and safety. However, Venice city residents and generally all holders of Venice International CARDS are exempt from these measures.

2.More attractions to visit

The solution is to create other city entry points, or to help visitors use one less used, so that it is possible to use different routes around the city.

3.Seasonal adjustment of the tourism

The statistics clearly illustrate the importance of holding activities in the off-season of tourism (City of Venice 2013). These activities attract visitors at certain times of the year, usually they don’t come, for example in winter rather than summer. This will help reduce the number of tourists in summer and make them travel less during the period, which in turn will have a positive impact. The city will be less crowded in summer, tourists can enjoy Venice more, and in winter, more tourism will have a positive impact on tourism activities. In some parts of the city, the physical stress of travel will be reduced and things will be better.

4.Tourist tax

In 2011, Venice introduced a tourist tax that lets overnight visitors pay for city maintenance. It includes not only long-term visitors, but also most day trips. It recently launched “Contribute Venice” for such visitors. The aim is to “reduce additional costs such as cleaning, garbage collection and city maintenance.” The total amount collected through the tourism tax and “transportation fees” will be distributed equally among the residents in the form of the city’s main cleaning and maintenance.

5.Regulations increase the time of tourists stay in Venice

It would be necessary to make the access to Venice more expensive to the excursionists because they represent the bigger number and the group that spends the least money in the city. They create problems such as waste; it would be incentive the overnight tourisms and to make people stay longer than 2.26 days per person on average (City of Venice 2013).
